Artisan Of The Machine

Written for TorQ Percussion Quartet, Artisan of the Machine was written as both a stand alone composition as well as part of the soundtrack for University of Waterloo's production of Adam Cowart's play Dissocia, a play about gambling addiction. While doing the fieldwork for Dissocia, I visited casinos and was struck by the particular aural environment. The rinigng of bells are both disinctly nearby and simulaneously distantly heard as a choir. This experience is reflected in Artisan Of The Machine in two parts.
